Second Reading, Surrogacy Bill and Motion of urgent public importance of the ”Critical Need to Rehabilitate the Caretaker/Seminary Road in Ogbomoso, Oyo State

On the 3rd October 2024, I led the debate on the ‘Bill for an Act to Establish the Nigeria Surrogacy Commission and Other Related Matters,’ (Establishment), 2024, HB, 1137.

This marked the second reading of the Bill, which seeks to establish the Nigeria Surrogacy Act and a Commission for the regulation, monitoring, and supervision of surrogacy arrangements in Nigeria. The essence of this Bill is to provide protection for all parties involved in surrogacy, ensuring proper coordination of the critical legal components throughout the surrogacy journey.

This Bill is especially personal to me, and my dearest wife, and many other parents whose children are the result of surrogacy. I truly understand the significance of this alternative conception and birth process for families, especially in our ever-evolving world.

I am delighted to sponsor this Bill, with the hope that intending parents can experience the joy of parenthood, and have access to a clear, supportive legal framework.

Additionally, I moved a Motion of urgent public importance, titled “The Critical Need to Rehabilitate the Caretaker/Seminary Road in Ogbomoso, Oyo State.” The deplorable condition of this road has made it inaccessible and unfit for vehicle movement, thereby causing untold hardship for the people of Ogbomoso and Nigerians/motorists trying to access the Northern parts of the country from the South.

t is my hope that these steps in legislative process contribute to ameliorating our issues and make our country great again.
