I have always been a staunch advocate of local government autonomy. Local government is the tier of government closest to the people, and we must ensure we maximize its functionality for the benefit of Nigerians. The financial autonomy granted to local governments by the Supreme Court is a welcome and timely development. This underscores the fact that if we continue to advocate and channel our discussions and opinions to the appropriate quarters, progress will be ensured, leading to the growth and sustainable development of Nigeria.
